Cultural immersion lies at the heart of the program, offering students an unparalleled opportunity to experience India’s rich heritage and diversity beyond the classroom. Excursions and trips to sites of historic and cultural significance, both within New Delhi and beyond, are thoughtfully planned throughout the six-week program. These experiences aim to deepen students' understanding of India’s vibrant traditions, history, and contemporary culture.

The cultural immersion activities include visits to iconic heritage sites in New Delhi, such as the Qutub Minar and Humayun’s Tomb, as well as a memorable trip to the magnificent Taj Mahal in Agra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. These excursions offer students a chance to witness India’s architectural brilliance and historical narratives firsthand.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

The ISS collaborates with the Ministry of Tourism and its Incredible India campaign to promote cultural exchange among students to deepen their understanding of India’s diversity.

Beyond sightseeing, these trips are designed to encourage students to share their experiences and perspectives, creating a space for intercultural learning. Both formal discussions and informal exchanges during these journeys provide opportunities for participants to connect, learn from one another, and appreciate the global diversity represented within the ISS cohort.

To further enrich the cultural experience, the program incorporates introductory lessons in the Hindi language and yoga classes, conducted in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga. These activities allow students to engage with India’s linguistic and wellness traditions, offering a holistic understanding of the country’s way of life.

CROSS-cultural learning

Through these immersive experiences, ISS not only educates but also inspires students to build lasting connections with India’s heritage and with peers from around the world.
