CULTURAL IMMERSION

Cultural immersion is an integral part of the program. Excursions and trips to places of historic and cultural significance, both within and outside New Delhi, are scheduled throughout the six weeks. Until 2019, the ISS, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs and Incredible India promoted tourism and culture among the students who attended ISS to promote cross-cultural dialogue.

This includes visits to heritage sites in New Delhi as well as a trip to the magnificent Taj Mahal in Agra. These visits are aimed at helping students step outside the classroom and experience the cultural and heritage of the country first-hand.

During these trips, students are expected to share their respective experiences with one another and learn from each other’s cultural backgrounds. This is encouraged in both formal and informal interactions.

As part of the cultural experience, the program also includes introductory lessons on the Hindi language and yoga classes in partnership with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga.
