TOURISM & CULTURE

Tourism & Culture are integral elements of the program. Visits to sites of historic and cultural significance, both within and outside New Delhi, are scheduled throughout the six weeks.

The program includes excursions to the magnificent Taj Mahal in Agra (Week 3) and the coastal state of Orissa or the Pink City of Jaipur (Week 6; depending on where the Service Learning component of the program is taking place). These are undoubtedly among the highlights of the students’ ISS experience.

Events that showcase India’s rich culture and heritage are also held over the course of the program. These visits and events serve to reinforce the students’ in-class learning.

Moreover, keeping in mind the program’s aim to promote cross-cultural dialogue, all students are expected to present and share their respective cultures with one another both formally during scheduled sessions as well as informally during their regular interactions.

As part of the cultural experience, the program also includes introductory lessons on the Hindi language and yoga classes in partnership with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga.
